This optical device inspects the items to be sorted as they fall from the conveyor. It then determines whether the product should be accepted or rejected based on the levels of light reflected from the product back to the optical sensors. The sorting grade is determined by the application, set points and delay controls in the Control Panel.

These controls set the machine’s sensitivity, the color of the product to be sorted/saved, and the time allowed for the product to pass in front of the reject unit. Once a faulty product is detected, the electronic unit times the object's progress until it is properly positioned in front of the reject unit.
